Cottage, East Lavant

A grade 2 listed traditional flint walled cottage built in 1746. The building had last been painted 4 years prior to the works, and extensive rot repairs were required, as well as painting all of the exterior wood work.

This is what our customer said:

"My cottage, in the village East Lavant, West Sussex is a Grade 2 listed, traditional flint walled cottage."

"When my home was last painted, the paintwork only lasted for four years, and I was not pleased with the result. So I booked a different painter who should have started work in the spring of last year. He let me down, making excuse after excuse as to why he was unable to do the work.

Subsequently a conversation with a friend in the village revealed that Mr Lane was currently painting her mother’s house in another village some 12 miles away. My friend’s husband added to the conversation by saying 'I’ve never seen painting like it, excellent.' Having obtained contact details I made an appointment to meet with Morley. Who was very thorough in his inspection of the property, taking photographs where he felt necessary. The costing which arrived subsequently was clearly set out including an estimate within a price band for the rot repairs."

"Work started at the appointed time. The recommended procedure for dealing with all areas of rotted wood in both windows and door frames was fully explained before the work started and the preparation required for this remedial work was carried out very thoroughly. Both  Morley and his assistant Sam were respectful of my home internally and took care to minimise the dust when sanding down wood by taping plastic sheeting over the frames inside the cottage."

"The painting was equally thorough, Morley discussing daily what areas were to be painted so as not to compromise any personal commitments that I had and I felt quite comfortable leaving them working at my home when I was not present."

"One incidental comment is that I was further impressed with the daily personal appearance of both painters, indicating to me their respect for their profession."

"I am more than pleased with the completed work, which was done on time, and feel that the integrity of the building has been maintained for the future. I would not hesitate to recommend M.J Lane Decorating Services."

This Is what our customer said:

"Having decided to go ahead with the redecoration of our hall and staircase, we contacted Morley Lane of M.J.Lane Decorating Services, along with a couple of other local firms. Although his quote was by no means the cheapest, it was the most comprehensive, informative and professional. I also felt that Morley would be sympathetic to the age and style of our Edwardian property."

"A work schedule was outlined and agreed and he and his assistant, Sam, managed to complete the job on time. Throughout the 10 days, they were polite, punctual and happy to advise when decisions had to be made. They left the place tidy at the end of each working day, and there was a sense of them working with us, as well as for us."

"We are delighted with the result and wholeheartedly recommend them."
